Ho Chi Minh City - Long Xuyen -“ Chau Doc - Can Tho - Ho Chi Minh City

Three days on the complex maze of the Mekong Delta is hardly enough for some people, but this tour gives you a brief insight into life on the mighty Mekong River and its tributaries. You will be taken along the vast network of canals and tributaries to see how people go about their daily lives. Gliding on the busy waterways we have the opportunity to interact with the local people at the floating markets, eat tropical fruits in lush orchards, look into the art of Bonsai and sip tea on a typical boathouse.

Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City - Chau Doc (L,D)

Our tour starts with a drive through the Mekong Delta to the town of My Tho for a visit to the local markets. After browsing through the markets we board our riverboats for a cruise along the endless waterways of the mighty Mekong. One of our stops will be to Xeo Quyt Forest, which was an old Vietcong stronghold during the U.S.-Vietnam War. From here we will continue onto Long Xuyen where we will board our vehicle for the drive to Chau Doc.

Day 2: Chau Doc - Vinh Long (B,L,D)

Chau Doc town is situated close to the Cambodian border. While here we visit a bonsai garden before heading up Sam Mountain for a birdseye view over the rice paddy fields toward Cambodia. Once off the mountain, we visit a fish farm. From Chau Doc we drive to Can Tho for a tour around the city. From Can Tho we drive to Vinh Long where we board our private boat for a cruise to a lush tropical orchard. Tonight we will be the guests of a local family. Mattresses, mosquito nets and pillows are provided. This is a unique opportunity to observe life in the Delta.

Day 3: Vinh Long - Ho Chi Minh City (B,L)

Before beginning our journey back to Ho Chi Minh City, we experience a floating market. Here each boat usually sells one particular item, whether it be pumpkins, pineapples, sugar cane etc, and in order that the customer knows where to shop, they hang that item from the highest part of the boat.
